Sen. Rand Paul finally ended his filibuster against John Brennan, President Obama’s nominee to be CIA director. Sen. Paul spoke for nearly 13 hours, in an old school, Jimmy Stewart-esque filibuster over the Obama administration’s drone policy. Sen. Paul’s opposed to the drone policy, in which the government can kill terror suspects without a trial. And Attorney General Eric Holder says — in extraordinary circumstances like the 9/11 attacks or the attack on Pearl Harbor — drone attacks may be justifiable on U.S. soil. We’ll debate the drone policy tonight on Hardball.
By the way, now that Sen. Paul is done with his filibuster, the Senate will vote on Brennan’s nomination, which is expected to win confirmation. But Brennan will take over the CIA just as a Senate report criticizes the agency over its harsh interrogation program.
