It had been more than an hour since Logan Pinto of Rexburg, Idaho, had been pronounced dead and his mother and stepfather said their goodbyes.

Authorities say Logan apparently wandered away from his babysitter and fell into a canal near his home yesterday. He was submerged for nearly 30 minutes before police found him.

Emergency workers tried to revive him but the boy was declared dead. A nurse was preparing his body for the funeral home when she noticed his chest was slightly moving.

Logan was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City, where he is listed in critical condition.

Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis says he's "amazed and overwhelmed."
