Google has given its Chrome Web browser a shiny new polish, and made it safer in the process.

Released yesterday (June 26), Google Chrome version 20  tackles 22 security vulnerabilities, 14 of which were labeled high priority, meaning an attacker could exploit them to gain privileged access to your computer.

Google, as part of its bug bounty-hunting program, rewarded several independent researchers for detecting and reporting the security bugs, including "miaubiz," who netted $7,000 for finding seven separate high-priority glitches. An additional $4,500 was handed out to other researchers.

If you use Chrome, the new version of the  Web browser  should automatically update itself. To make sure, click on the wrench icon in the top right corner of the browser and then select "About Google Chrome."
