One person was killed in a police-involved shooting in Northwest Jacksonville late Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police were investigating the shooting in the 5700 block of Avenue B, which happened about 11:30 a.m.
Carter Woodson Elementary School and Northwestern Middle School are both on lockdown.
No other details about what led to the shooting were immediately available.
This is the eighth police shooting in Jacksonville this year and the fifth fatal police shooting.
