With just over a month until tax day, you're likely in one of two camps — gleefully anticipating a refund or dreading a hefty payment to Uncle Sam. While filing tax returns isn't fun, this year you could get rewarded either way. SaveUp, a free, nationwide rewards program that offers incentives for saving money and reducing personal debt, has launched a tax season campaign with TurboTax that rewards people for filing their taxes on time. You could win one of two $10,000 prizes: "Double Your Refund" or "Pay My Taxes." The IRS expects to receive more than 144 million individual tax returns this year and has set the filling deadline for April 17. The SaveUp program is linked to 18,000 U.S. financial institutions. Visit the SaveUp site to register and link your bank accounts. You will earn points for paying off loans and credit card balances, making deposits into a savings account and watching short videos about better money management. Points can be used to enter regular drawings for things like cash, HDTVs and vacations. How the tax day program works:
- File your Federal tax return with TurboTax.
- Log in to SaveUp and enter your TurboTax order number.
- You will be automatically entered into six $1,000 drawings.
- You earn 500 SaveUp credits that can be redeemed for chances to win the $10,000 tax day prize.
