German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party says she will campaign with French President Nicolas Sarkozy this spring.
Although France's presidential elections are just three months away, Sarkozy has not yet officially declared his candidacy.
Most political observers believe he will, and his conservative UMP party held an election rally on Saturday, repeatedly declaring its support for him.
Merkel and Sarkozy have forged a tight relationship during Europe's debt crisis. The leaders of two of Europe's biggest economies often take the lead in drafting the continent's response, earning them the nickname "Merkozy."
The chancellor's conservative CDU party said cooperation with the UMP was central to the German-French alliance and that she would support Sarkozy's campaign with joint appearances.
