What better way to get a jump on summer than to build a sandcastle? A really, really big sandcastle.
Ed Jarrett, the Guinness World Record holder for the tallest sandcastle, recently topped his own record.
His latest incredible construction was built at Winding Trails Recreation Area in Farmington, Connecticut, USA and measured 37 feet, 10 inches — a full 6 feet taller than his previous record.
Jarrett and a team of more than 1,000 helpers used more than 1.6 million pounds of sand and water to create the structure, which collectively took more than 2,000 work hours to complete
Jarret began work on the castle on April 1, and completed the structure in time for official measurements seven weeks later, on May 20. During the final two weeks of the project he lived in a trailer on the site, carving the sand for an average 15 hours a day, only stopping to take breaks to drive his daughters to school or to eat.
The medieval castle’s design features a two-headed, fire-breathing dragon and Rapunzel.
