More than 200 wine aficionados helped set a new world record this week for the most people uncorking wine simultaneously.
The record attempt was led by wine educator Kevin Zraly, author of "Windows on the World Complete Wine Course" and "Kevin Zraly's American Wine Guide." A total of 252 people partook in the uncorking, which was organized by Zraly's publisher, Sterling Publishing Co., Inc., and held at the Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts complex in New York City.
The event took place following the James Beard Foundation's annual awards ceremony on May 9, during which Zraly was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. After accepting the award, Zraly received yet another; a Guinness World Records judge who had witnessed the successful record attempt presented Zraly with an official certificate.
