NEW YORK, April 27, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian) announced today that its Board of Directors has named Deanna M. Mulligan, 47, the company's Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2011. Currently Guardian's President and Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Mulligan will succeed Dennis J. Manning, 64, who will remain with Guardian as Executive Chairman through his scheduled retirement in February, 2012. Concurrent with assuming the CEO post in July, Ms. Mulligan also will become a member of the Guardian Board.
Ms. Mulligan joined Guardian in July 2008 as Executive Vice President in charge of the company's Individual Life and Disability business, and in October 2010 was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. Before joining Guardian she ran her own consulting firm, advising insurance companies on strategic and operational issues. Her more than 25 year career includes senior executive roles at New York Life, AXA Financial and McKinsey & Company at which she was a Principal in the firm's New York office.
