A crew member aboard a Disney cruise to Mexico has been missing since Tuesday, and the Mexican Navy is searching at sea for the woman, the company said.
An investigator from the Bahamas Maritime Authority boarded the Disney Wonder ship on Friday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to help in the search, Disney said.
That agency is leading the investigation because the ship's flag state is the Bahamas.
The ship, which had left from Los Angeles two days before and was cruising to the Mexican Riviera, was in the ocean when the crew member failed to report for duty.
"Given the circumstances, we are very concerned about this crew member and are doing everything possible to assist with the search effort and investigation," the California-based Disney company said in a statement.
The company declined to name the missing woman. After she failed to show for duty, her colleagues thoroughly searched the ship, Disney said.
The Mexican Navy is searching for the woman at sea off its coast, but Disney has also contacted the U.S. Coast Guard and the FBI, the company said.
The Disney Wonder has the capacity to accommodate 2,400 passengers and 945 employees, and it boasts 10 massive decks, the company said on its website.
The boat docked in Cabo San Lucas on Thursday and it will leave port shortly and dock in Los Angeles on Sunday.
