The long awaited update to Apple's MacBook Pro line of laptop computers has finally dropped.
In addition to the expected faster processors, the updated MacBook Pros also feature Intel's new Light Peak technology (rebranded Thunderbolt by Apple), which can transfer data at speeds of 10 gigabytes per second.
Despite recent rumors, the new laptops do not sport a redesigned chassis resembling the lighter and slimmer MacBook Airs. In fact, the MacBook Pros look nearly identical to the previous models.
All of the new MacBook Pros also include standard hard drives, and not solid-state drives, or SSDs, and they all still have built-in DVD drives, which Apple calls SuperDrives.
The new MacBook Pros come in 13, 15 and 17-inch configurations. The 13-inch model will cost $1,199 and will have a 2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 processor and a 320GB hard drive, or $1,499 for a 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 and 500GB hard drive.
The 15-inch model comes with a 2.0 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics chip and a 500GB hard drive for $1,799, or 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive for $2,199.
The deluxe 17-inch model has a 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive, and will sell for $2,499.
All three models will also feature built-in high-resolution cameras, which Apple is calling a FaceTime HD camera.
