Kamiyah Mobley was just hours old when she was snatched from a Jacksonville hospital a dozen years ago. Her father said a similar story making national news is giving him a little new hope that he will someday see his daughter again.
Police believed Kamiyah was abducted from her mother's hospital room in 1998. The mystery has never been solved.
"I would tell her that we love her, we're waiting on her, praying for her," said Kamiyah's father, Craig Aiken.
On July 10, 1998, somebody kidnapped Kamiyah from the University Medical Center, now called Shands Jacksonville. They believe the woman who took the baby was wearing a wig and pretending to be a nurse.
Aiken said Kamiyah was only seven hours old when she was snatched, and 12½ years later, he knows a lot of people have forgotten about her and are expecting the worst. He stays hopeful because one family found their happy ending more than two decades later just recently.
Carlina White was kidnapped from a New York hospital in Aug. of 1987. After finding herself on a national database, she tracked down her biological family. Aiken hopes Kamiyah eventually does the same thing.
