A jet with a landing gear problem made an emergency landing in Arkansas on Wednesday night, causing sparks to fly as the plane touched down.

Delta Airlines Flight 1609 was enroute from Atlanta to Little Rock when a cockpit light indicated a potential issue with the landing gear, NBC's KARK-TV reported.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the pilot chose to perform a flyby to confirm that the landing gear was properly in place," Delta said in a statement. "After it was confirmed that the landing gear was extended and locked, the flight landed without incident."

When the plane touched down shortly after 8 p.m., sparks came flying off the right side.

"If you fly enough, you're going to have problems. It's man made. You know, things break," said passenger Danny Hall. "Nobody was scared."

All 78 people aboard the plane disembarked safely. There were no reports of injuries.
