(Nasdaq:ACLS) today announced the appointment of Jay Zager as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective January 15, 2011. Zager brings over three decades of experience with global high technology firms to Axcelis. Prior to joining the company, Zager was executive vice president and chief financial officer at 3Com Corporation, an enterprise networking solutions provider. Before this, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Gerber Scientific, Inc., a leading supplier of automated manufacturing systems and as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Helix Technology Corp., a supplier to the semiconductor equipment industry. Zager holds an M.S. degree in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. degree in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
