D.C. officials say the city's snow emergency ended at noon Monday.
However, D.C. Department of Transportation spokesman Dan Tangherlini said city tow trucks moved and ticketed over 700 cars overnight. Owners can call (202) 727-5000 to locate their vehicles.
And cab drivers in the city had until noon to take advance of charging customers double the fare for rides.
Although freezing rain and sleet could be a problem later on Monday, Tangherlini said he's confident the snow emergency declaration could be lifted by noon.
Pedestrians are also urged to be careful. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Alan Etter said there have been several reports of pedestrians struck by automobiles in the city Monday.
D.C. law requires that sidewalks must be shoveled eight hours after the snow stops falling. Etter said people need to make sure snow is removed from around fire hydrants and that address numbers are clear so fire and ambulance crews can see them in the event of an emergency.
