This will become the first piece of legislation to provide $4.5 billion over the coming years for healthy, nutritious school meals, healthy vending programs and to fight childhood obesity. The measure will establish federal nutritional guidelines making more nutritious foods more accessible throughout school campuses, eliminate junk food and sugary soft drinks in school lunch programs as well as school vending machines. For all kids, the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act promotes overall wellness through increased nutritional standards and physical activity.
