What:
Sr. Elizabeth Hasselt, Executive Director of Encore Community Services, will visit NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square and preside over the NASDAQ Closing Bell.
The mission of Encore Community Services is to provide care and service to the elderly of the Clinton/Times Square/Midtown communities, and to any elderly person who comes to us; to assist those who are vulnerable and frail, poor and homeless, homebound and lonely, frequently desperate, most often ignored; to help them with their daily needs that they might live as independently as possible, with dignity and decency, in a non-institutional manner, in a safe and caring environment.
Encore Community Services, located on W. 49th St., between Broadway & 8th Ave., serves seniors in the midtown and westside community. Encore is sponsor of the Encore Senior Center, Encore 49 Residence and the Encore West Residence. The Senior Center is a community facility providing 350 onsite meals daily and is responsible for providing home-delivered meals to over 840 homebound seniors. On weekends, the Center delivers another 800 meals for Saturday and Sunday. Social Services, Recreational and Educational Activities and Additional Support Programs for homebound seniors are provided.
The Encore 49 Residence is a supportive housing facility for formerly homeless elderly with special needs. Encore West is our newest housing facility that provides housing to low-income seniors.
