PLANTATION, Fla., Oct. 5, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TradeStation Technologies, Inc., the award-winning trading software company for the active trader market, today announced it is hosting the TradeStation 9.0 Developer Challenge, a competition designed to recognize independently-developed analysis techniques that highlight the power and flexibility of EasyLanguage® in the 9.0 version of TradeStation, which is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2010. The company believes that TradeStation 9.0 will once again reset the bar for trading platforms in the retail brokerage industry by empowering customers and developers to automate and test strategies in the equities, options, futures and forex markets unlike anything else currently available.

EasyLanguage 9.0 (the enhanced version of the company's industry-standard strategy design language that will be released in TradeStation 9.0) has features and syntax found in many object-oriented programming languages and includes a powerful set of new components that give users the ability to easily monitor and act on important trading and market data information. TradeStation's development environment has also been enhanced to integrate seamlessly with these new syntax and library enhancements. These tools should provide valuable assistance to traders who develop or create EasyLanguage analysis techniques.

Another significant enhancement to be included in TradeStation 9.0 is the Grail Walk-Forward Optimizer and Grail Genetic Optimizer. The Grail's unique model of 'Walk Forward' testing allows the trader to see how the strategy he or she has tested against a historical time period will perform against various unseen market data metrics and time segments within that back-tested time period. The company expects to offer the Grail in an update to TradeStation 9.0 in the earlier part of next year.

"EasyLanguage, an industry-standard programming language used by developers to create indicators, strategies, systems and other tools that are compatible with TradeStation, has always been a cornerstone of the TradeStation platform and the release of 9.0 will greatly enhance its capabilities," said Salomon Sredni, CEO of TradeStation Group, the parent company of TradeStation Technologies. "Programmatic access to information such as market depth, orders, and positions will allow our users to enhance their existing arsenal of analysis techniques. They will also have the ability to perform algorithmic trading, programmatically monitor risk, and utilize market depth alerting. We continue to look for ways to support our active trader audience and, toward that objective, are excited about the upcoming release of TradeStation 9.0."

In order to participate in the TradeStation 9.0 Developer Challenge, candidates must be an accepted developer in the company's TradeStation Open Platform, TradeStation Strategy Network or EasyLanguage Specialist program. Candidates who are not currently a member of one of these developer programs can apply at: . Candidates may enter up to five analysis techniques by 1 p.m. ET, November 15, 2010, to be considered. Up to ten winners could receive up to $3,000 and a one-hour company-hosted online webinar about the developer and his or her product(s).
