A West Palm Beach man who tried to carjack a woman in the parking lot of a jail shortly after his release is going back behind bars.

Frank Singleton was sentenced Friday to six years in prison and four years of probation for carjacking a woman in the jail parking lot in March 2008.

Singleton pleaded guilty June 18.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies said Singleton ran into the parking lot of the jail and attempted to steal a Nissan 350ZX from a 23-year-old woman, but he was unable to drive away because he didn't know how to operate a manual transmission.

Singleton had just been released from the jail after Riviera Beach police arrested him on a misdemeanor trespassing charge.
