A Kansas City woman is accused of driving to Iowa intent on killing a man she believed had written derogatory comments about her on the Internet, authorities said Thursday.
Breana Danielle Greathouse, 25, was charged with one felony and two misdemeanors.
Jim Clark, spokesman for the Ottumwa Police Department, said police arrested Greathouse after receiving a report of a woman with a gun threatening to kill a man.
The first officers on the scene found Greathouse with a gun in her hand and threatening to shoot Forrest Jamison of 1308 Center Street Place, Clark said. Officers were able to arrest the woman before she fired the weapon.
The incident occurred about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.
"The preliminary investigation shows that Greathouse traveled from Kansas City earlier in the day to kill Jamison because she believed that he made derogatory postings about her on the Internet," Clark said.
Police did not detail those remarks.
Greathouse is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $35,000 cash bond.
Her brother told KMBC-TV in Kansas City that his sister had been bullied for years. He said their mother has traveled to Iowa to be near Greathouse.
