A father shot his three teenage sons, two fatally, at their home in southern New Jersey before police killed him, authorities said early Friday.
Jason Laughlin, a spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, said the shootings occurred late Thursday at the family's home in Pennsauken, a Camden suburb.
Laughlin identified the alleged gunman as 54-year-old Alfred Moton. He said Moton killed his 14- and 18-year-old sons and wounded his 16-year-old son.
Police shot Moton after he charged a group of officers while holding a gun, a lighter and a can of gasoline, Laughlin said.
Firefighters responded to a home blaze around 11 p.m. EDT Thursday, The Courier-Post reported. Witnesses told the newspaper that while the firefighters battled the flames, they heard gunshots, which prompted them to back off.
Firefighters from three communities responded to the scene, and it took about 30 minutes to get the flames at the one-story brick home under control, the newspaper said. The blaze gutted the structure.
Pennsauken is a town of about 35,000 people, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.
