DETROIT, Sept. 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) today announced it will take center stage with Providence Health & Services to discuss the importance of clinical system performance and availability. The session titled: will take place at the CHIME10 CIO Fall Forum in Phoenix, AZ on October 7, 2010, at 9:55 a.m. Mountain time.

This interactive session will feature Curt N. Kwak, Chief Information Officer at Providence Health & Services Western Washington Region and Michael Wilson, Senior IT Director of Clinical Information Systems at Compuware Corporation, who will discuss how ensuring the performance and availability of clinical systems can give clinicians a successful end-user experience and increase clinician adoption.

" System performance and availability is critical and plays a crucial role in patient care," said Kwak. "If clinicians have to wait 15 to 30 seconds or more to access data, the quality of care delivered to patients can suffer and impact workflow as well as the business. This results in frustrated clinicians, a decrease in clinician adoption and a lack of confidence in IT. Clinical applications need to be available and working 24/7, problem-free."

CHIME10 attendees will learn:

  • the direct relationship between the clinical end-user experience and Meaningful Use;
  • the importance of grouping collections of technologies together and aligning those to specific clinical processes;
  • how to find ways to increase executive and clinician confidence in IT by providing quality service to clinical users ;
  • the importance of aligning IT with the business of the hospital; and
  • the benefits of clinical adoption strategies.

"Meaningful Use and the ARRA require that clinicians use electronic health records (EHR), yet slow log-in times and lack of availability greatly reduce adoption rates," said Wilson. With the tremendous investments healthcare organizations are making in implementing EHR systems, they will want to be sure to deliver the consistent performance that clinicians expect. Our CHIME10 session will provide attendees with best practices to provide quality of service to clinicians as well as ways to ensure the performance and availability of clinical systems."

Compuware's EHR Service Delivery Solution uses Vantage to ensure clinical applications deliver the consistent, high-quality experience from the clinician's perspective that is required to maximize productivity and minimize risk to patients.
