LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 27, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eight finalists have been chosen for Windstream's (Nasdaq:WIN) Iowa Education Connections program which aims to enhance technology at schools and charitable organizations throughout Iowa.
The eight finalists are:
- Charter Oak-Ute Elementary – Ute
- Children & Families of Iowa – Des Moines
- Friends of Fayette Community Library – Fayette
- Nodaway Valley Elementary – Fontanelle
- Progress Industries – Newton
- Schleswig Community School – Schleswig
- St. Francis Xavier – Dyersville
- West Delaware Community School District – Manchester
Four winners will be determined based on a public online vote and will share $70,000 to be used for technology or technology upgrades. The school or organization with the most online votes will receive a $25,000 donation. The remaining top three will win $15,000 each. Votes may be cast at through Oct. 15.
Windstream received more than 700 nominations for Iowa Education Connections. Fifty-two schools and 501(c)3 organizations applied for the program. The top eight were chosen based on current technology resources and overall need.
