Online movie rental company Netflix and NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution have expanded their license deal that covers TV shows subscribers can watch instantly by streaming them online, the companies said Friday. (Msnbc.com is an NBC Universal-Microsoft joint venture.)
Financial terms of the multiyear deal were not disclosed.
The agreement adds new TV shows that Netflix subscribers paying at least $9 a month will be able to stream instantly. The shows include episodes from each of the 35 seasons of "Saturday Night Live," every episode from the last season of "30 Rock" and others.
The Wall Street Journal reported the deal also expands Netflix's selection of "The Office," "Friday Night Lights" and "Law & Order: SVU."
The agreement also provides access to episodes of "Battlestar Galactica," "Destination Truth" and "Eureka" from the Syfy network.
Netflix is working to get more customers watch movies and TV shows online instead of ordering DVDs by mail to save on postage costs.
