NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- John Hannum, Vice President of IBA Energy & Building Sciences, a division of Israel Berger & Associates, LLC (IBA), has earned the Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He is currently one of only three people in New York City to earn this certification.
The ASHRAE certification program attests to an individual's ability to evaluate, choose, use, calibrate and interpret the results of energy modeling software when applied to buildings and systems energy performance and economics. It also confirms an individual's competence to model new and existing buildings and systems with their full range of physics.

Leading IBA's Energy & Building Sciences, John Hannum is a licensed Mechanical Engineer, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and LEED Accredited Professional (AP) with over 10 years experience in sustainable design, installation, and operation of mechanical systems. John is also an assistant adjunct professor at the New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate, where he teaches the course "High Performance Energy-Efficient Buildings."
