New Truck Will Help Deliver Food to Senior Citizens

The Bi-County Nutrition Program was showing off its new hot and cold truck Thursday night at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clarksburg.

The Bi-County Nutrition Program was showing off its new hot and cold truck Thursday night at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clarksburg.

The Eagles and the Doddridge County Commission purchased the truck to serve food to senior citizens unable to provide meals for themselves.

The program serves 525 meals a day in Doddridge and Harrison Counties and 480 of those meals go to home-bound people.

It features a refrigerated section and an area to keep meals warm.

The new truck will make those meals possible.

"Most of them are actually home-bound where they can't get out, they can't drive. A lot of time we are the only person, our drivers, the only people they see. It's a lot just that they have a hot meal and someone checking on them everyday," said Wanda Carrico, the executive director of the Bi-County Nutrition Program.

The Bi-County Nutrition Program is an agency of the United Way of Harrison County.
