NBC News' "Today" continues as the dominant morning news program topping GMA by 812K. Last week's win marks "Today's" 763rd consecutive week in first place. Below are the highlights for the week ending July 23.
Highlights:
- TODAY averaged 4.685 million total viewers, a +21% (+812,000) advantage over GMA and +123% (+2,586,000) over Early Show.
- TODAY has now won 763 consecutive weeks in both homes and total viewers.
- In rating A25-54, TODAY led GMA by +33% (+4 tenths) and Early Show by +167% (+1 full ratings point).
- In rating A18-49, TODAY outperformed GMA by +50% (+4 tenths) and Early Show by +200% (+8 tenths).
- Versus the same week last year, TODAY is the only morning to post gains in A25-54 (000). TODAY grew 2% while GMA dropped 4% and CBS dropped 18 percent.
- Week-to-week, TODAY posted a gain of +5% in rating W/A25-54 and widened its lead over GMA in rating W18-49 and rating M25-54.
- TODAY grew in rating W18-49 (+6%) and rating W25-54 (+10%) versus the same week last season while increasing its advantage over GMA in rating W/A18-49 and rating W/M/A25-54.
- Season-to-date, TODAY tops second-place GMA by +26% (+1,104,000) in total viewers and +40% (+702,000) in A25-54 (000) while enjoying its biggest advantages over GMA at this point of a season in six years (since the 2003-04 season).
- TODAY has widened its advantages over both GMA and Early Show this season in total viewers, rating W/A18-49, and rating W/A25-54 compared to the same period last season.
TODAY II & III Highlights:
- TODAY II outperformed GMA in rating W18-49 by +10% (+1 tenth).
- TODAY II topped CBS Early Show for the week in homes (+44%), total viewers (+40% or +835,000), rating W/A18-49 (+120%/+75%) and rating W/A25-54 (+63%/+50%).
- TODAY II outperformed The View in rating M18-49 (+33%).
- TODAY II grew versus the same week last season in rating W18-49 (+10%) and rating W25-54 (+8%).
- TODAY III averaged 1.761 million total viewers and a 0.5 A25-54 rating.
- Season-to-date, TODAY III has grown +4% (or +67,000) in total viewers and +13% in rating W25-54.
On its digital platforms, "Today" continued its strong performance during the week ending July 24, 2010, with more than 12.5 million online streams. TODAYshow.com's stories, blog, message boards and live votes were also popular with users.
