A 15-year-old survived after falling 16 floors through a parking lot roof and onto a concrete floor, according to reports.
New Zealand media reported Monday that the boy was playing on a balcony before he fell.
The boy was in stable condition in Auckland's Middlemore Hospital on Monday, three days after the 160-foot fall. He sustained a broken wrist, broken rib, gouged leg and internal injuries, The New Zealand Herald reported.
The parking lot roof, which is made of sheet iron and filled with insulation, probably saved the boy's life, building manager Jason Epps-Eades told CBC News.
Medical experts were surprised that he survived as few people managed to live if they fall more than five floors, the Herald reported.
"God must have been with him. He's got an angel looking after him, that's for sure," housekeeper Kaa Wehi, who was working in the building at the time, told the newspaper.
The teen was expected to be released from hospital on Friday, according to The Dominion Post.
