An Air France flight attendant was arrested after a series of thefts from business-class travelers sleeping onboard, Bloomberg.com reported Tuesday.
The unidentified woman was questioned by French police and later released under supervision, a spokesperson for a prosecutor in the Paris suburb of Bobigny told Bloomberg.
The arrest ended a six-month investigation that was opened after passengers on a Tokyo-to-Paris flight reported more than $5,000 had been taken from their carry-on luggage.
The flight attendant was arrested Friday after arriving in Paris on a flight from Tokyo.
French newspaper Le Figaro originally reported the arrest. Police recovered jewelry, checks and credit card numbers in the woman's home and bank deposit box, the paper said. The suspect faces charges on 26 separate incidents; thefts have been reported on 142 Air France flights this year, according to Le Figaro.
Police reportedly used passenger manifests and staff rosters to identify the suspected flight attendant.
Air France did not comment on the arrest when contacted by Bloomberg.
