Msnbc.com is looking for an experienced Senior Video Producer to help grow our online video programming. We seek an individual who can collaborate with internal teams, our parent companies and external content producers to produce high-impact Web video shows. We need a player/coach: The right candidate will be accountable for generating ideas for new Web series, working closely with our ad sales team to proactively pitch show concepts to top brands, executing projects greenlit by editorial management of TODAYShow.com and msnbc.com, and managing a small team of multi-talented producers. Proven production skills, news judgment, high ethical standards and good interpersonal skills are required. Writing and verbal communication, team-work, organization and work-ethic are essential qualities for a successful candidate. An entrepreneurial, innovative spirit and passion for digital media are necessary.
A BA degree, particularly in Journalism, History, English, Film or other discipline emphasizing storytelling and multimedia creation, is required. Strong candidates with equivalent experience and education may be considered. Minimum five years experience producing (writing, shooting, editing, and sourcing) Web video, including daily collaboration with established broadcast or cable entities and regular collaboration with ad sales teams, is essential. News experience is required. Experience in producing non-fiction programming in lifestyle, business and other feature categories is welcome.
The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressured, often hectic environment. Must be able to be flexible and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects. Must be self-motivated while maintaining a collaborative team orientation.
Details:
- Request, assign and contract with NBC News, msnbc.com and 3rd party video production units to produce original programming that simultaneously targets msnbc.com’s audience base and premium brand advertisers.
- Manage production budget and revenue targets (i.e. P&L)
- Work closely with Msnbc.com sales team, Msnbc.com editorial management team, NBC News and MSN Video to receive sales RFPs, show ideas from NBC and msnbc.com editorial teams, and audience sweet spots across distribution channels (including msn.com and msnbc.com)
