San Francisco wide receiver Terrell Owens broke his left collarbone against Philadelphia on Sunday and will miss the final game of the season.

Owens, who did not speak with reporters, will visit doctors on Monday to determine if surgery is necessary.

''He'll be back to play next year, but obviously he's out for Saturday,'' coach Dennis Erickson said.

It was not clear how Owens was injured, though he left for the locker room late in the first half. Owens, who becomes a free agent after the season, had one reception for 20 yards.

Owens did return to the sideline in the second half in street clothes.
