Henry Winkler was the guest of honor at Hoffman Hospice's "Voices of Inspiration" fundraiser on Thursday night.

The actor, producer, and author of children's books is best known for his roll as "the Fonz" from the 1970's TV show Happy Days. Although he gained notoriety for being a tough guy on "Happy Days" his message for the hospice crowd was one of caring and hope.

Winkler credits childhood learning disabilities for making him the person he is today. HIs disabilities were the central message of the speech he presented at the hospice fundraiser.

"My American history teacher said, Winkler, if you ever do get out of (high school) you're going to be great. So everyone told me I would never be anything and I knew what I wanted to do since I was seven," said Winkler.

Hoffman hospice provides care to patients in their own homes, who are in the advanced stages of a terminal illness.

This hospice has served over 4,000 people since 1995.
