American Airlines is preparing to launch new service Tuesday night between Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Beijing.
The flights had been scheduled to start last month but were delayed while the airline sought approval for takeoff and landing times from Chinese authorities.
Officials at American, a unit of AMR Corp., said the service to Beijing Capital International Airport would complement Chicago-to-Shanghai flights that it began in 2006.
Single flights are scheduled to leave Chicago on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings, with Beijing departures scheduled to begin Thursday and include morning flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
American said it would use Boeing 777 aircraft with 51 premium seats and 194 seats in coach. The airline said it would have Mandarin-speaking flight attendants on each flight.
