Marsh & McLennan Cos. spent $260,000 in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on health care and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
That's slightly up from the $250,000 it spent in the year-ago period, but slightly down from the $270,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The insurance broker and consulting firm, based in New York, also lobbied on issues including Wounded Warrior laws, executive compensation practices, taxes and financial regulatory reform.
In the January-March period, the company lobbied Congress, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Veteran Affairs, according to the report filed April 20 with the House clerk's office.
The Obama administration has proposed a series of measures to tighten the reins on financial institutions in hopes of preventing a recurrence of the crisis that struck both Wall Street and Washington in the fall of 2008.
