"NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams" was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of February 15 - 21, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, "Nightly" saw 11.106 million total viewers, +3.085 million more than ABC "World News,’" 8.021 million and +4.745 million more than CBS "Evening News’" 6.361 million. "Nightly" had its best ever total viewer advantage over both "World News" and "Evening News" (since at least the start of People Meters in September 1987).
Last week was the first full week of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and "Nightly News" broadcast live from Vancouver where they will remain through the duration of the Games. Last week was "Nightly’s" best total viewer delivery in over five years (since the week of January 17, 2005). On Monday, Nightly delivered 13.118 million viewers, the biggest single day delivery and the best single day advantage over "World News" since December 1, 2004. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +1.197 million total viewers and is the only newscast to show growth versus the same period last season.
Last week, "Nightly" also led in the key demo adults 25-54. "Nightly" delivered a 2.8 rating A25-54, ahead of "World News’" 1.8 and "Evening News’" 1.6. On Monday, Nightly delivered a 3.6 A25-54 rating, the best single day delivery since January 20, 2005. With 3.441 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat "World News" by +1.171 million viewers, the best advantage since the week of November 29, 2004. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +508,000 A25-54 viewers. This is the 65th consecutive week "Nightly" has topped "World News" in this key demo.
As the number one network broadcast last week, "Nightly News" delivered a 7.2/13 Household rating, with "World News" in second place with a 5.4/10, and "Evening News" in third with a 4.3/8.
On its digital platforms, "Nightly" continued its strong performance last week with more than 4.6 million online streams for the week ending February 20, 2010.
