On Wednesday, April 14th at 2 p.m., Ed Schultz will participate in a panel discussion at Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network’s annual national convention.
The panel will feature top names in the news media, including Jonathan Capehart, Washington Post Editorial Board; Elinor Tatum, Publisher, New York Amsterdam News; Alfred C. Liggins III- Chairman, TV One/ CEO, Radio One, Fred Mwangaguhunga- Founder, MediaTakeOut.com; Elizabeth Benjamin- Columnist, NY Daily News and George Curry, The Curry Report and focus on race and the media and whether issues impacting people of color are covered fairly in the news.
Rev. Sharpton, who has three radio shows that reach one million people weekly, will also weigh in on the discussion. The panel will be moderated by Rachel Noerdlinger, President of Noerdlinger Media and longtime public relations advisor to Rev. Al Sharpton.
As some Americans feel that the nation has not made racial progress a year after the first black president took office, the panel will assess whether this is true in the media and whether views on race are covered fairly by the news corp. Among other issues, the questions of whether America is a country where people are not judged by the color of their skin and whether the media perpetuates this notion will be addressed.
