Hawaii's tourism numbers for February held fairly steady compared with the same month last year.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority reported Tuesday that some 531,000 air and cruise visitors came to the islands last month for an increase of 0.7 percent.
The agency says total expenditures by visitors who came by air in February fell by just 0.3 percent.
The president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, Mike McCartney, notes visitor arrivals and spending held stable despite the Pro Bowl not being in Hawaii this year.
Maui saw a 7.2 percent growth in visitor arrivals in February, only the second consecutive month of positive growth in visitor arrivals to the island since December 2005. Tourism officials credit new direct routes and increased direct flights into Kahului Airport.
