Warm weather this past weekend is going to bring Washington's famous cherry blossoms a few days early.
The National Park Service revised its prediction for blooming dates Monday. Chief horticulturist Robert DeFeo is now predicting the peak blooming will be April 1 to April 4. Earlier he predicted most trees would be in bloom April 3 to April 8.
The trees will likely begin blooming this weekend and continue through April 9.
The 2010 National Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to run from March 27 to April 11. This year marks the 98th anniversary of Japan's gift of the cherry blossom trees to the nation's capital.
The opening ceremony is planned for Saturday at the National Building Museum.
