“Venice is a peaceful escape,” said Rebecca Currey of Eagle River, Alaska who submitted this week's top-rated image in our It’s A Snap! travel photo contest.
The 21-year old junior, majoring in business with a minor in communications and leadership at Hope College in Holland, Mich., visited the city of water in May 2009 while on a trip with schoolmates studying Vienna through the college’s Vienna summer school program.
“We took the overnight train to Venice and stayed for two days, one night. The beauty of it all ... and the people, they were so nice. ... And the serenity of it too, Venice is a peaceful escape”, said Currey.
“It’s super touristy, but you can escape by getting lost in the canals, and on the streets.”
Currey snapped the winning shot with a Samsung DSLR.
