A Colorado man charged with sexually abusing nine boys at a school he founded in Haiti plans to plead not guilty to new charges that accuse him of abusing nine more victims.
Federal prosecutors said Thursday that a superseding indictment charges 39-year-old Douglas Perlitz with nine counts of traveling outside the U.S. with the intent to engage in sexual conduct with minors and 10 counts of engaging in sexual conduct in foreign places with minors.
Authorities accuse Perlitz of enticing children at the Project Pierre Toussaint school in Cap-Haitien into sex acts by promising them food, shelter, cash and gifts.
Perlitz, of Eagle, Colo., pleaded not guilty to the original charges, which accused him of abusing nine boys. Defense attorney William Dow III said Perlitz will plead not guilty to the new charges.
