Jury could begin deliberations in officer death

A Philadelphia jury is expected to begin deliberating whether the convicted murderer of a police officer deserves the death penalty.Prosecutors and attorneys for 23-year-old John Lewis will make their closing arguments to a jury Monday. The jury will decide if Lewis should be put to death or spend life in prison for fatally shooting Officer Chuck Cassidy on Oct. 31, 2007.Lewis pleaded guilty to a general charge of murder on Nov. 12. Last week, the jury determined Lewis was guilty of first-degree murder for shooting Cassidy in the head when the officer walked in on a doughnut shop robbery.
