A Philadelphia jury will begin weighing whether a man who murdered a police officer should be put to death or spend his life in prison.The panel is set to hear testimony Friday on the aggravating and mitigating factors in the case of 23-year-old John Lewis.Jurors found Lewis guilty on Thursday of first-degree murder in the death of city policeman Chuck Cassidy. The veteran officer was gunned down in 2007 when he interrupted an armed robbery at Dunkin' Donuts.Authorities captured Lewis six days after the shooting at a homeless shelter in Miami.Lewis had pleaded guilty to a general charge of murder; jurors decided it was first-degree murder, making him eligible for the death penalty.
