Sewage is flooding a Hamilton couple's basement and she claims the city's response stinks.
The issue made it to the City Council meeting on Wednesday as people who had sewage in their basements after a big storm, spoke out again, trying to get answers.
Everett and Cheryl Allen said the damage is still visible in the basement of their home on Haven Avenue.
The couple said sewage water in their basement rose high up on the walls in June, ruining the drywall, the furnace and everything else it touched.
"This is what we're left with, and we don't know what to do -- we're stuck," Allen said.
"It was raw sewage -- I had floating poo and toilet paper," Cheryl Allen said.
Allen has been speaking out at council meetings for months, trying to get answers.
"I would really like to have that sense of security, that it's going to get fixed," Cheryl Allen said.
She isn't alone as several people at the meeting told similar stories.
They have two issues they want fixed. The first is getting the problem solved so it never happens again. Secondly, they want their homes fixed.
The Allens said that so far, neither the city nor their insurance will pay for repairs.
"I thought I was moving into a dream home that I could grow old in, and I feel like my house is tainted," Cheryl Allen said.
