McDonald's Corp., the world's largest fast-food company, reported third-quarter results Thursday. Here's a quick look at how the Big Mac maker fared.

PROFIT: For the three months that ended Sept. 30, McDonald's earned $1.26 billion, or $1.15 per share. That's up 6 percent from a year-ago profit of $1.19 billion, or $1.05 per share.

REVENUE: Revenue slid 3.5 percent to $6.05 billion, dragged down by fluctuating global currencies.

Excluding the impact of those currency fluctuations, McDonald's said its third-quarter revenue grew 2 percent.

AROUND THE GLOBE: Europe led the pack, with sales at stores open at least a year growing 5.8 percent during the period. In the U.S. the figure, which is an important measure of restaurant performance, rose 2.5 percent. In Asia, Africa and the Middle East, the measure climbed 2.2 percent.
