A 23-year-old woman is in critical condition after she spent nearly 40 hours in her wrecked car. It had run off a road in New York's Adirondacks.

A relative found Brittany Lafoy's vehicle late Sunday night in the woods about 60 miles north of Albany, state police said.

Police say she was driving home from a bar when she apparently went off the road around 2 a.m. Saturday.

A helicopter was used to search for Lafoy after she was reported missing Saturday morning.

But she wasn't found until a relative spotted the vehicle's reflector in a heavily wooded area along the road.

Trooper Maureen Tuffey told the Glens Falls Post-Star newspaper that the vehicle had apparently hit a utility pole and culvert before continuing into the woods.
