CORPUS CHRISTI - The campus of George West High School is in mourning Monday after a weekend accident leaves one student dead and two others injured.

Jacob Bardin, 17, was killed Saturday night when the Nissan Pathfinder he was driving went out of control just east of George West.

DPS investigators say a Live Oak County deputy tried to pull Bardin over because he was clocked at 93 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed zone.

According to the DPS, Bardin refused to stop and at one point increased his speed to more than 100 miles per hour. His SUV went out of control on a caliche road.

The SUV crashed through a barbed wire fence and rolled over once. Bardin died at the scene.

Two other George West students, Julian Zuniga, 17, and Gabriel Martinez, Jr., 18, were taken to a Corpus Christi hospital with head injuries. They're doing OK.

A third passenger, Reynaldo Casias, 21, also received a minor head injury.
