A tropical disturbance 600 miles east of the Lesser Antilles could form into a depression during the next day or so and could strike the United States or Cuba, meteorologist Richard Rude of the National Weather Service said today.
The showers and thunderstorms associated with the broad area of low pressure have become better organized, the National Hurricane Center said.
The disturbance is heading west-northwest at about 15 mph.
Rude said it would be several says "at least" before the storm could strike land.
"It depends whether the track changes over time or not," he said.
