The AAA South Dakota Motor Club says its survey indicates fewer South Dakotans will make travel plans during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The survey says overall travel among South Dakotans will fall 9.5 percent from last year's figures.
The report says highway travel could slip 8.5 percent and air travel likely will drop about 17.5 percent lower than last year.
The South Dakota predictions are similar to national numbers.
The AAA says a sluggish economy, a later Labor Day and a large number of travelers for last year's Labor Day weekend could contribute to the difference.
A spokesman did say gas prices are about $1 a gallon lower than last year at this time.
