Indianapolis - Metro Police are looking for witnesses to a fatal shooting on the near northeast side Sunday afternoon.
Officers drove up to a residence in the 3500 block of Station Street around 6 p.m. and noticed a 20-year-old male, Joshua Johnson, who had apparently been shot in the leg. A 34-year-old male was in the front yard of the address with two gunshot wounds.
Both men were transported to Methodist Hospital, but the 34-year-old died en route to the hospital.
Investigators believe both men were in front of a home at 3520 Station St. when someone fired shots from the street near the corner of 35th and Station. The men made their way across the street, collapsing in front of the home where police found them.
Police say the nature of the shooting makes the incident more dangerous.
"In a distance like this, somebody firing a handgun, or whatever weapon they were using, those shots often miss. They go into homes. They can hit into some people. So we need to get this individual off the street and into jail right now," said IMPD Sgt. Matt Mount.
Police do not know if the shooter was in a car or on foot and are asking anyone with information to contact the IMPD Homicide or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
