Just a few days before a high school football coach is to go on trial for the heat related death of one of his players, a recently released coroner's report says Max Gilpin's death was an accident.

The Jefferson County coroner tells the Courier-Journal he ruled the death an accident the day he wrote his report, but no one asked to see the findings until last week. The coroner however, cautioned putting too much emphasis on his initial findings saying he made his conclusion without knowing anything that went on at the football field the day the 15-year old collapsed.

David Stinson is charged with reckless homicide and wanton endangerment. His trial is expected to start Monday.
